Welcome from Governor Ian Taylor

Governor Ian TaylorWelcome to the Western Canada District of Kiwanis International, which includes all or parts of five Provinces and the North West Territories.

We are the world’s premier organization engaging adult and youth volunteers to improve the quality of life worldwide.  As a thriving organization of volunteers, we are dedicated to serving the children of the world and improving the quality of life worldwide.

Kiwanis works to develop future generations of leaders through our Service Leadership Programs, providing leadership development opportunities for students at every stage of life, from elementary schools to university.  These programs promote personal growth and community building for a broad spectrum of students, allowing them to form enduring friendships, while building better communities for generations to come.

Kiwanis has made a decision to reinvent itself and break the mold for traditional service organizations.  Our goals as a District are to attract more volunteers and provide more service to our communities.

Kiwanis: A global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.

Financial Review Committee - Members Sought

September 24, 2008

FINANCIAL REVIEW COMMITTEE

The District has received permission to conduct its financial reviews using Kiwanis members, in order to reduce the nearly $1000 annual expenditure on this process.

With that in mind, the Board approved a committee consisting of no more than three members to review the 2007-08 District finances.

The criteria for the proposed committee would be:

  1. No member shall have received any form of compensation from the District (expenses or honorariums) during the period to be reviewed.
  2. Maximum expenses to be paid for the committee travel shall be $300.

We envision that the committee members could travel to the District office in Camrose and that it should not take more than one day to review the finances.

The district would pay for travel and that one of the committee members could stay at the home of the District Secretary. There is a Ramada Inn just around the corner from the District office.

Obviously, Alberta Kiwanians are closer to Camrose than anyone else but if anyone is interested please contact:

Governor-designate Ian Taylor at 780-435-4537 or ian@satellitebingo.com

Secretary Dirk Bannister at 780-608-1417 or wckd@cable-lynx.net

Thank you!

Dirk Bannister

Secretary-Treasurer
